Vermont Fly Fishing Guides | Guided Float Trip (6 Hour Float Trip)

Vermont Fly Fishing Guides | Guided Float Trip (6 Hour Float Trip)

Vermont Fly Fishing Float Trip For 1 - 2 Guests

Fishing Area: Arlington, VT

Fishing - River

Fishing Boat:

Drift Boat • 14' Smithfly • Max 2 guests (base trip price includes 1 guest)

Target Fish:

Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout

Description:

Take a guided fly fishing float trip on the legendary Battenkill river or one of several other highly productive rivers in the area not as well known (a.k.a. pressured). The 14' Smithfly fly fishing raft will get us to the unreached places targeting browns, rainbows and brook trout. You will fish from the boat and in certain key spots get out a wade. We will fly fish employing several tactics and techniques depending on the hatch, conditions and fish behavior. Some approaches are common, some are old school and some I've developed over years of fishing these waters.

  • “Fun day chasing trout. Tough conditions with heavy flow on the river and muddy water but John put me on fish. Great trip, location and day. Highly recommend!”
  • “My husband and I went out for a float trip with John. We had never been fly fishing before. John started our session out of the river teaching us the basics of fly fishing which was extremely helpful. Once we were in the water, John was a patient and encouraging teacher. It was fun to learn about something we had never done before from an expert with a wealth of experience and knowledge. During the whole trip, John was attentive and gave very helpful feedback to grow our skills. The best part of the trip was putting everything we had learned into action and catching our first trout. Overall, he took us from no experience fly fishing to being comfortable out on the river. We both want to keep up this new found hobby! Thank you to John for a truly excellent first experience. I would highly recommend taking a trip with John to anyone. 10/10.”
  • “John is an excellent guide, a master of the the Vermont waters, and such a joy to be around. For as much knowledge (and hopefully fish) as you will collect on your trip, the most valuable aspect will be the time on the water with John.”

  • “John was a great guide! This was our group's first time fly fishing and we mentioned that to John when booking. He then setup our session to be a great balance of instruction and fishing. There was no one else at the spot we went to fish, and John even mentioned if it had been crowded he had other close options for us to go to. Once in the water, John moved throughout the group - giving us all coaching and guidance. We went in with the expectation of learning a lot and trying some things out - hopefully getting the urge to continue fly fishing. We had no expectation of catching anything, but two members of our group caught their first fish! It was a great experience and I would recommend John to everyone!”
  • “

Wonderful day on the Battenkill with John Rogers. John is a very knowledgeable guide and teacher. Most importantly his positive attitude and guidance made for a very memorable day on the river. No doubt that I have found a great guide and friend to fish the Battenkill!
