John is an excellent guide, a master of the the Vermont waters, and such a joy to be around. For as much knowledge (and hopefully fish) as you will collect on your trip, the most valuable aspect will be the time on the water with John.

John was one of the most knowledgeable and patient guides I've fished with. My son and I had a great day on the water and caught some beautiful browns and rainbows. Will definitely be back!

John was a great guide! This was our group's first time fly fishing and we mentioned that to John when booking. He then setup our session to be a great balance of instruction and fishing. There was no one else at the spot we went to fish, and John even mentioned if it had been crowded he had other close options for us to go to. Once in the water, John moved throughout the group - giving us all coaching and guidance. We went in with the expectation of learning a lot and trying some things out - hopefully getting the urge to continue fly fishing. We had no expectation of catching anything, but two members of our group caught their first fish! It was a great experience and I would recommend John to everyone!

My husband and I went out for a float trip with John. We had never been fly fishing before. John started our session out of the river teaching us the basics of fly fishing which was extremely helpful. Once we were in the water, John was a patient and encouraging teacher. It was fun to learn about something we had never done before from an expert with a wealth of experience and knowledge. During the whole trip, John was attentive and gave very helpful feedback to grow our skills. The best part of the trip was putting everything we had learned into action and catching our first trout. Overall, he took us from no experience fly fishing to being comfortable out on the river. We both want to keep up this new found hobby! Thank you to John for a truly excellent first experience. I would highly recommend taking a trip with John to anyone. 10/10.

John Rogers is an Excellent fly fishing guide Guide with Vermont Flyfishers. We had an excellent day on the Walloomsac Rever. John really knew his stuff and had me on fish right away. He knew the River very well and kept me busy with different strategies for catching trout. The best time was in the early afternoon and John had me switch to a dry fly with a dropper on my 4 weight Bamboo fly rod. He had seen a large trout feeding and directed me to land the fly up stream and let it float over where the trout had been feeding. As soon as it hit that spot the trout took the dropper and the fight was on. It turned out to be the biggest trout I caught all day. It was a textbook cast and take.John is so knowledgeable and works so well wit people I learned a lot from him. Thank you John for a truly outstanding day on the River.

A good guide has to have skill, knowledge, and people skills. John has all those qualities and more! This was a repeat trip with John, and I come away not only touching some great fish, but also leaving a better angler. John will not disappoint!

We had a fantastic day on the water with guide John Rogers! Was a bit cooler than the day before with some cloud cover. Insect and surface activity was limited but John put us on fish. John was patient as we worked both the front and rear seats and both sides of the boat. John is extremely knowledgeable of the rivers, insect life and fish behavior as every take we had was right where he told us there would be a fish. We landed some great fish and a few never made it to the boat but an incredibly fun, educational and entertaining day was had. I owe John credit as he played a huge part in me landing my PB for New England trout! This big Vermont brown trout measured in at 23” once we got him in the net! Phenomenal couple of days out with John and I highly recommend him if you are fishing the southern Vermont and New York border rivers.

John took me out on the Walloomsac River in North Bennington. We spent a few glorious hours surrounded by gentle currents and active fish. It was my first time fly fishing and John was ever so patient with me. The trip ended with a beautiful sunset and a good size Rainbow Trout. Could not have asked for a better guide or a better experience. I would highly recommend John for your next adventure on / in the water.
